We will also be inviting our affiliates to send any other players they think warrant a chance to be considered for the national team. “We are very open about our selection of the national teams and give everyone who thinks they deserve a chance to be considered to come for the trials. After the third phase, we will finalise the team for the Sea Games.” As for the Women’s Asian championship, Low said that the overall standard of the women players in the national championship will be scrutinised before making a final decision whether to send a team for the championship. “The Asian women’s championship is of a very high standard, where Japan is the Olympic gold medallist. We do not want to send a team just for the sake of participation and need to determine if our women players’ standard has improved and will be able put up a respectable performance before deciding to send them,” added Low who is also one of the five vice-presidents of the Olympic Council of Malaysia.
